Governors

Welcome to the Governors' Page

From the Chair of Governors:

The Governing Body is a group of dedicated individuals from varying backgrounds and offering different areas of expertise from within the local community, all with a common goal of ensuring that Blackbrook School is able to offer the best educational provision to its children and that all children are able to reach their potential and be suitably prepared for both their next steps in education and be provided with essential life skills.

The Governing Body itself is a legal entity with responsibilities across a number of areas including;

  • Staffing
  • Standards
  • Curriculum
  • Policy setting
  • Budgets
  • Buildings and grounds
  • Complaints

It is the role of the Governing Body to take a strategic view, plan for the future, set appropriate targets and to monitor and evaluate results. The Governing Body works in close partnership with the Headteacher, providing both challenge and support to ensure that all decisions are made following due process.

The full Governing Body meets twice termly and there are also a number of sub-committee meetings throughout the year covering areas such as Buildings and maintenance and finance.

If you would like further information with regard to Governor activities or are interested in becoming Governor of the school, in the first instance please make contact with the Clerk to the Governors – Mrs V Simmons.
