Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I start?

We would suggest taking a look at the daily activity sheet which will be posted before 9am each weekday. This will give you suggested activities for the day, as well as links to areas of the Virtual School website that you can explore further if you wish.

Which tasks should my child complete?

There are a wealth of resources and links online and we appreciate it can be very overwhelming. We are sent many ideas and resources, many of which are fantastic, but there certainly isn't enough time in the day to do them all. We are suggesting activities that could be done independently, with adult support, online, offline and to suit a variety of learning styles. We want to be very clear that there is no expectation for any of our learners to complete particular tasks. We have tried to organise what we believe to be the most useful resources onto this website, allowing you as parents and carers to make a judgement with regards to what is the most appropriate for you and your child(ren) at home.

My child is having a particular difficulty with the home learning tasks that are set and needs further guidance. What should I do?

Email us at with specific queries and we will direct your question to the most appropriate person who will be able to answer them. Please remember to include your child's name, class and school in the email.

I want to share a photo of my child participating in home learning. How do I do this?

In these uncertain times, where it is necessary to be socially distant, seeing photos of other children accessing home learning tasks can be comforting to other children. If you would like to share a photo of your child for the class page of their website, please email it to, including in the message the task that is being completed, your child's class, teacher and school name. If you are happy for your photo to appear on our social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter & Youtube, please let us know. The easiest way to share an image on Facebook is simply to tag our page, or post to our page directly

Why hasn't work been set on my child's class page?

Teachers have been asked to post intermittent communications on their class pages, and have not been asked to set daily tasks. Please see the daily activity sheet for activity ideas for the day, and explore the links on the right for additional tasks. Do keep checking your child's class page for occasional messages from your child's teachers, as well as to see any photos that have been sent in.
