How to use the Virtual School

Our Vision: To support families across The Oak Partnership with home learning throughout the closure of schools due to COVID-19.  We recognise that home learning will look very different depending on your family context, for example, the age of your children, your confidence levels, the resources you have, your home environment and the different levels of interaction between children and adults that will exist due to work and child care arrangements.

Through the Virtual School, our aims are:

- To provide a selection of activities, challenges and projects for younger and older children to help and support parents and carers in meeting the needs and interests of the children in their care.  Each day, there will be a fresh daily learning activity to try independently and with an adult/older sibling.

- To signpost families to core learning resources to support home learning in the areas of Maths and English.  These are intended for children to access as frequently as they wish and with minimal adult intervention.  They include year groups specific home learning packs and links to useful websites.

- To signpost families to live learning sessions that are happening throughout the day elsewhere on the web. Again, these do not need to be adhered to rigidly, but can be accessed as frequently as desired.

- To signpost families to useful websites which are full of resources, games and activities. They are organised by subject and could be of use when shaping your children's learning at home.

- To provide links across the Partnership and the individual class pages.  Please note that the Virtual School is hosting the learning provision across the Oak Partnership.  Activity planning will be provided daily by the Virtual School.  Class pages will be maintained less frequently as a means of more personalised communication by the class teacher and will contain some contextualised learning activities/ suggestions.

- To help families learn more about the transition of their pre-school child into primary school and signpost them to useful resources.

- To provide a wealth of resources for helping to safeguard the welfare of adults and children throughout this time.
