An update from Mr Seviour

School Disco

A huge thank you to Kelly Brooks, staff and parent volunteers who supported the Winter Disco. We were so pleased to be able to organise an event for the children to look forward to, and they had an enjoyable evening.

Friends of Blackbrook

Thank you to everyone who attended the AGM at the end of last half-term. To know so many parents attended fills me with assurance that our school charity will continue to thrive. We are meeting with Hannah Sharland, Dan Rowden & Leanne Phillips early this term to set diary dates and get things moving. We are also going to move forward with plans to develop the performance space within the school hall – watch this space!

Wellbeing Champions

There were many applications received for one of the coveted 'Wellbeing Champion' roles. Kelly has selected children this week who were straight to task, engaging in a workshop led by our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) colleagues. The children played some games, thought about wellbeing - what it is and why it is important - and considered what their 'dream school' would look and feel like. Building on our safeguarding and pastoral offer as a school, we are excited about the involvement of pupils in making sure we are always thinking about the wellbeing of others.

Celebration Assemblies

We have continued with our weekly celebration assemblies on a Friday. Each week, every member of staff identified one pupil in the school who they feel has demonstrated one of our school values. It is hard to pick only one! Our children know our values through and through and we refer to them not only through our celebrations, but also when reflecting on events. When children fall out, or need to think about something they have done, we relate this to our five core values: Kindness, Responsibility, Aspiration, Fairness and Teamwork. Don't forget you can submit items via the school website that we enjoy celebrating within this assembly. This includes attendance at sporting events, competitions, music exams, the list goes on.

Parent Consultations - Diary Dates!

A letter will be sent shortly about the upcoming parent consultations; this is an opportunity for you to meet with your child's class teacher. The dates are: Tuesday 31st March and Wednesday 1st April 2026. Information about booking will follow soon. Of course if you have any general concerns or queries, you can contact your child's teacher in-person, via class dojo or for their attention via the school office. If you feel a matter you have discussed with the class teacher is not being addressed, you can escalate your concern to the phase leader. Mr Sime is the phase leader for children in EYFS, Year One and Year Two. Mrs Shaw is the phase leader for children in Year Three, Year Four, Year Five and Year Six.
